Hello,
Is there anyone out here running Stratum.Planner 6.2.x on a Windows 8 machine? I have a problem where many of my users are crashing their planner environment. I am able to duplicate it by doing random adding and subtraction of dimensions from the view/template that is actively open.
Select File -> New
Open the Generic Regular Template that is located in XXX Generic.Add Dims 02
Add Dims 03
Add Dims 04You should have Dims 01, 02, 03, 04 open in your template.
Remove Dim 04
Remove Dim 03
Remove Dim 02Add Dims 02
Add Dims 03
Add Dims 04Remove Dim 04
Remove Dim 03
Remove Dim 02 <– This Crashes.Yes I know that no one in their right mind would add and remove like this, but this is how I get it to fail fairly consistently.
Thanks,
Jeff Peterson -

One of my users found her own workaround.
She is logging onto our Citrix server with her Windows 8 machine, and running Stratum.Planner on that. It’s not desirable, but it’s something. I am hoping that some other’s in the user community have run into the same problems that I am having with Windows 8, and know some tips/tricks to get around the problem.

Jeff:
1 – you’re right – no one in their right mind would do this:)
2 – which version is it exactly? 6.2.3?I’ve got a Surface running 8.1 that I can try this on.

Basically all I have to do is add/remove/modify dims. I could even throw in a few measure modifications. I just stuck with changes that were easy to document.
I have Controlled Release V6.2.3 running on my Windows Machines.
Product support is looking into this, but I was really hoping that another customer had some insight. Thank you for
your willingness to dive in. 🙂 -

So in trying this on a couple of PC’s here it looks like this issue is specific to Windows 8. Didn’t see it on Windows 8.1. Turns out my Surface is at 8, but another PC was 8.1 and didn’t get the issue.

Did it happen with your surface? (8)
I have some 8.1 machines doing this. -

Yes – got it to happen on the Surface with windows 8.
Not sure what fix level the 8.1 box was at – could be a Windows patch that solved the issue.
Did not see it on Windows 7 – so it’s something to do with a certain fix level of 8/8.1

I’m looking at this on a Surface Pro (gen 1) upgraded to 8.1 and it seems to be an issue. It’s weird because on some of our other 8.1 PC’s the issue doesn’t happen. Wondering if it’s the touch screen stuff.

That sounds right.
All of our 8/8.1 machines are touchscreens. Thanks,

Just an FYI – I just got a new Windows 8.1 PC (non touchscreen) and have not had any issues so far. I will let you know if I experience any crashing.
