How can I see more detail about a YTD number? In essence we want to drill into a YTD sales measure and see sales for the months. You can do this in Stratum using the hyperlinking capability provided as a Measure property.

As an example we’ll use a simple view showing sales this year vs. last year for a rolling 3 months, current month and year to date. By adding a hyperlink to the YTD measure we can allow the user to ‘drill’ into the YTD number filtered by the current dimensions he is looking at. So if our user is looking at Sales by Division and Brand, when he clicks on YTD sales measure a view will display showing him the monthly trend for the current year for the Division and Brand from the row he clicked on.

So from a time range view showing YTD like this:
      Comparative Sales View

You click on the YTD sales number and a view opens that might look like this:
      Trended Monthly View

In the Trended Sales View (2nd view pictured above) you’ll need to add parameters that allow the view to accept parameters passed in the hyperlink from the Comparative Sales view (1st view pictured above).

The parameters in the Trended Sales view are set up like this:
      Trended Sales parameters

The hyper link is a property of the YTD Sales measure in the Comparative Sales view set up like this (note also the pop up text that is used to let the user know what the link does).

Post any questions you might have or requests for additional detail – this is a cool feature of Stratum and adds another dimension to the usefulness and value of your views.
